Hearts

Album cover from HeartsAn Album of Timeless, Romantic Standard Classics, Hearts a new album from jazz musical artists Kenny & Leah, is a jewel box of eleven international standard love songs.   With the passionate vocals of Leah Soderblom and Kenny Soderblom’s warm and sensitive jazz saxophone, Hearts features romantic classics performed in Spanish, French, Italian and English.  Highlights include Autumn Leaves by Joseph Kosma and Jacques Prevert with lyrics by the legendary Johnny Mercer, Besame Mucho by Mexican Consuelo Velazquez and the 1928 Rodgers and Hart show tune This Can’t Be Love.

This inspiration as well as the dedication and devotion of this husband and wife duo, Kenny and Leah Soderblom, resulted in an album of incredible beauty and artistry. In addition to the Hearts title track, Marty Balin’s big hit, the album’s timeless songs include: the Portuguese Fado Malmequer, , jazz classic Body and Soul and the R&B standard Harlem Nocturne, two great original classic gems Over The Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz and the 1995 Best Original Song Oscar winner, Colors of the Wind from the Disney film ‘Pocahontas,’ the famous Irish folk song Danny Boy and Caruso, a tribute to the great Tenor by Lucio Dolla.

Reviews

“Leah is artistic, Effortless tone quality, timeless sound. One of the most versatile singers I’ve heard.” – Brett Manning, Vocal Coach to the Stars, Nashville, TN

“Bea and I truly love Kenny and Leah’s version of Hearts.” A superb interpretation of this wonderful classic. Leah’s voice fits this choice of music perfectly and together Kenny and Leah set the mood. Kenny’s playing is superb as usual. Listening to this beautiful music reminds me that Kenny Soderblom is probably the best saxophone player that I have ever recorded.” – Bruce Swedien, 5 Time Grammy Winner Producer, Sound Engineer for Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, etc.

Since she first heart Mariza, the wonderful young Portuguese Fado singer, Leah was hooked and worked tirelessly to learn this passionate music and she learned well. So much so that we flew to Lisbon to La Taverna, the Alfama District Club where Mariza got her start. After being coaxed, Leah received a standing ovation from the international audience and all the excellent Fado singers who preceded her. Boy, was I proud. – Kenny Soderblom
